Manuela Kalili won the silver medal for swimming in the 4×200 freestyle relay at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles.

He shared the medal with his brother, Maiola, who swam with him on the same relay team along with Frank Booth and George Fissler.

He also competed in the 100 meter freestyle at the same Olympics, placing 4th and missing the bronze medal by less than half of a second.

The Kalili brothers were part of an outstanding U.S. Olympics swimming team in 1932 which included Clarence “Buster” Crabbe, gold medalist in the 400 meter freestyle individual event and who is also an inductee in the Hawai’i Sports Hall of Fame.
