CONTRIBUTOR – FATHER OF THE HONOLULU MARATHON

In 1973, Dr. Jack Scaff started the Honolulu Marathon with Tom Ferguson and Tommy Kono and has guided the marathon from its infancy of 162 runners to over 30,000 runners today.

In 1974, he conceived the Honolulu Marathon Clinic, educating thousands of people with the joys and benefits of long distance running.

He demonstrated this by showing that even heart patients could complete marathons with proper training. Dr. Scaff is world renown as the originator of this concept which is followed throughout the world.

In 1996, he was an inaugural inductee of the Honolulu Marathon Marathon Hall of Fame.
