Herman “Buddy” Clark
Herman “Buddy” Clark was a high school sensation at Punahou School in 1947 and achieved all Pacific-10 Conference honors while at Oregon State. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Chicago Bears in 1952 and was named to the NFL Half-Century Team. He made All-Pro in 1955 and 1956.
The Korea cease fire began on July 1, 1951 and the negotiations lasted two years. The fighting ended on July 27, 1953. He returned to Hawai’i and coached football at Moloka’i High, Hilo High, ‘lolani and Punahou schools. As chairman of the Aloha Stadium Authorlty in 1980, Clark was instrumental in bringing the NFL Pro Bowl to Honolulu on a permanent basis.
