PIONEER – VOLLEYBALL
Fanny Hopeau
Fanny Hopeau showed the way for other female volleyball players in the state of Hawai’i. During her long career, Hopeau was named All-American seven times and won a silver medal at the 1966 World Games in Japan. She was a member of the USA’s Championship Team in 1967.
With her dominance on the world scene and her selection on the 1968 U.S. Olympic Volleyball Team headed for Mexico City, a dream came true for the Papakolea girl from Roosevelt High School.
Fanny distinguished herself at all levels of competition in the volleyball world and has been inspiring other youngsters to do the same as a coach.
