Junior Ah You

Junior Ah You was a high school, college and professional football star. He began his career as a standout player for Kahuku High School in both football and basketball, graduating with the Class of 1969.

As a college player for Arizona State he participated in the Fiesta Bowl and the Peach Bowl where he was voted Most Valuable Player on both occasions. He was named All WAC Defensive End and All American Defensive End in 1971 and was selected to play in the Hula Bowl in 1972.

From 1972 to 1982 he played for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League where he was named to the All Canadian All-Star Team twice and played in five Grey Cup Championships. Between 1984 and 1985 he played in the USFL for the Chicago, New Orleans and Arizona teams.

He is the only player from Hawai’i to ever be elected to the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame.

    Hi Junior. Not sure if you’ll remember me. I lived beside you in Montreal when I was 17. You brought me to practices and games with your family and I really got to know a couple of your nieces very well that summer. Wanda.
    Anyway, I was just having a conversation with a friend and your name came up and I’m not on Facebook right now, but they are and found you.

    I’m sorry it’s taken so long to do this, but I wanted to thank you for one of the greatest summers of my life and for the tremendous positive impact you had on me.

    I’m currently living in Alberta. Still a closet Alouette fan even though the Eskimos are my home team now. Lol.

    Just thought I would take the opportunity to reach out and say hi. I hope you’re doing well.
    I always wondered how my life would’ve changed if I would’ve been able to go back to Hawaii with you after that season. I’m sure it would’ve been amazing.
