Lenn Sakata

Professional Baseball
Lenn Sakata, a manager in the San Francisco Giants minor-league
system, became the first player born and raised in Hawai'i to
play in the World Series when he was with the Baltimore Orioles
in 1983.
Sakata, a Kalani High School Graduate, was a middle infielder
for the Milwaukee Brewers, the Orioles, the Oakland Athletics
and the New York Yankees from 1975 to 1987.
He was the last Oriole to play shortstop before Cal Ripken Jr.
began his ironman string.
He was an All-Star in High School, an All-American in College and
was drafted into the pros in the first round in 1975 by Milwaukee.
Sakata was selected by CNN Sports Illustrated as one of the 50
greatest sports figures in Hawai'i history. He graduated from
Kalani High School in 1971.
