Chris Duplanty
(Born October 21, 1965)
Olympic Water Polo
Chris Duplanty was a three-time Olympian (1988, 1992 & 1996)
in water polo. He was a silver medalist in the 1988 Olympics.
In the 1996 Olympics he was selected as captain of the team.
and received the distinction of "Most Dominant Goalie" by
leading all Olympic goalies in saves and save percentage.
Duplanty graduated from Punahou School in 1984. During his
college years he was a three-time NCAA All American and was a
member of the 1989 NCAA National Water Polo Championship team
at U.C. Irvine.
In 1993 he was named U.S. Water Polo Male Athlete of the Year
and repeated that title again in 1996.
Duplanty led the U.S.A. Men's Water Polo Team to victory in
the World Cup Water Polo Championship of 1997.
He also excelled as a coach serving as Assistant Coach to the
U.S.A. Women's Olympic Water Polo Team in 2000 at Sydney where
they won the silver medal.
He is currently a member of the Olympic Athletes Advisory
Council.
